Preschool | Valentine's Day Theme

Saturday, February 13, 2016

Summer is 42.5 months old.

Our Valentine's Day themed week was pretty low-key and simple, using many resources already prepped from previous years and a few new ones.

Here's a look at our tray set-up.

Top Left: Gluing Glitter Hearts | Top Middle: Color by Number | Top Right: Letter Hearts
Bottom Left: Lacing | Bottom Middle: Number Identification | Bottom Right: Scissor Practice

We used this pack for several activities, including pre-writing practice which turned out to be a favorite this week.

Kaitlyn usually naps when we do school, but this particular day we got an earlier start than normal and she was able to join in.  She was fascinated with everything Summer was doing and would not leave her side.

We worked on counting and number identification, using pom poms to locate the number.

And, put together several puzzles.

We worked on letter identification, using both uppercase and lowercase letters.

She loved shadow matching...

And, a sensory bin--originally I had planned to use pink, red and white pom poms, a few strands of ribbon, and foam hearts.  However, it just wasn't coming along as I had hoped and I decided to scrap the whole idea. A few days later, I found some inspiration and added curly pipecleaners which was perfect!  Then, I added a few colorful wooden numbers so Summer could "hunt" and identify numbers and she loved it!

Letter F | Frog, Fudgsicle & Flower + Giveaway

Saturday, February 06, 2016

Summer is 42 months old.

After taking several weeks off from school-related activities over Christmas, we are finally easing back into a routine with our letter of the week activities.  We picked back up with Letter F and I love seeing Summer's excitement and enthusiasm to learn.  She loves having something to call her own and I enjoy watching her grow and advance over the weeks.

Our set-up...

On our first day, she ran straight for the colander activity.  She fed pipe cleaners into the holes to make many different funny designs.

We used several of our Bitty Beginnings printables, like dot painting...

Pre-writing practice...

And, sticker fun...she loved this!

I know I say this a lot, but Summer loves any activity that requires scissors.  This week, I let her do this cut and paste activity completely solo--on standby if needed.  She did fabulous and was so proud of her work, immediately running over to show Daddy!

Same deal with her letter crown, though I helped with shapes and tricky parts.

She made letter bracelets for the two of us and LOVED these clip cards from Homeschool Creations!
