Discovery Baskets: Week Three

Sunday, June 16, 2013

Summer is 10.5 months old.

Time got away from me with Summer's activities this week.  Here's a look at her baskets and one of the days I happened to capture her in action.

These discovery bottles are simply water and food coloring.  She enjoyed shaking and rolling them.  Looking back, glitter and beads would have been an interesting addition to the water.

Big sister, Abby started zoo camp this week.  Walking her to the classroom, Summer was able to see monkeys, frogs of various colors, and several species of exotic birds. With that in mind, I pulled some of our animal identification books for her to browse through.  Her favorite thing lately has been pointing.  While we looked at the books, she pointed to different animals and I would name them.

This was probably my favorite activity to see her play with this week!  Since she loves putting items into containers, I thought this would be perfect for her.  With the help of my dad and brother, I had a fun container that was perfect for pushing lacing beads into.  As soon as I put the container in front of her, she needed no introduction.

Then, she decided she'd rather play in the grass.

After a few minutes of exploring and laying in the warm sun, it clearly became nap time.

We spent plenty of time outside!  Summer helped Abby with one of her projects and enjoyed a nice, long ride in the wagon.

  3. The lacing bead activity is great! I loved starting my little one so young with a tot school time. She now ask for it everyday. Watching them learn is the best.

  4. Really cute! I love the concentration on Summer's face when putting the blocks into the container -- so wonderful. I'm pinning that to my Baby school board!
