Easy Scented Sidewalk Paint

Monday, April 29, 2013

Abby loves sidewalk chalk and I have to admit..I do too!  It's quick, fun and washes off easily.  I saw this fun idea for sidewalk paint (a liquid form of sidewalk chalk), but thought a scented version would be so much better.

Supplies
  • Cornstarch
  • Water
  • Food Coloring
  • Scented Extracts
  • Container with dividers (muffin tin or something similar)
  • Paintbrushes or foam brushes
Directions

Mix 1 cup of cornstarch with 1 cup of water until combined.  Pour mixture into divided container and add food coloring until desired color is reached.  For added fun, add a few drops of flavoring extract (banana, orange, almond, rose, vanilla, etc).  I have also experimented with adding Kool-Aid for both color and scent.  The amount depends entirely on the color you are trying to achieve and it works just as well.  Now, just dip your brush in and be creative!

Abby had so much fun "decorating" and liked a more abstract approach by splattering the paint in the end.

  7. We just mixed ours up and I didn't have any scents and just remembered I have more spearmint than I know what to do with. Going to drop a leaf or two into each color! We're preparing to paint the driveway now.
