I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  This week we worked with Letter O and our Bible verse was a perfect match for the Holiday.

Number: 25
Color: Orange
Bible Verse: Oh, give thanks to the Lord for He is good.
Sight Word: good
Tracing practice...

We talked about the history of Thanksgiving and talked about things that God has given us that we are thankful for.  She was thankful for her baby sister, Summer. :-)

She chose to work on her lowercase alphabet puzzle.

And, she found her number puzzle and decided she wanted to that too.

We used several printables from this pack, such as size matching.

Tallest and Smallest...

Ordinal number counting practice...

And, this alphabet maze which she LOVED!

Abby made a turkey craft, too.  I set the materials out and just let her creative vision go.

This was the finished product that particular day.  However, she came back to it the next morning and added MANY additional touches.

And, we made homemade hamburger buns together one morning.

We enjoyed a nice walk in the woods one morning.  Abby loves to explore!

And, Summer turned 4 months old this week.  Sadly, this was the only picture I snapped of her.

Bible Verse: Seek the Lord while He may be found.
This week we worked on the Letter S...

For several weeks now, we've been focusing on the 30 something words Abby has learned over the course of the past year.  We played a few games and made sentences using her words which she always finds exciting.

This game was rather simple..I just wrote her words on cardstock and hid them under leaves from her sensory bin.  She picked up the leaf and had to read the word.

We used resources from Homeschool Creations and Over the Big Moon for our Thanksgiving theme this week.
She eases through beginning sounds...

Loves mazes...

Scissor practice...

We played with our opposite puzzle pieces.

And, she was so proud that she got all her rhyming words correct!

Following my verbal directions....

Number writing practice...

Summer discovered how to roll the rattle and that occupied her for quite some time.
She continues to become stronger sitting up in short spurts.

Abby at her finest.

We doubled up again this week on her RRSP portion.  We do not include all activities, just pick and choose week to week.

Number: 22
Sight Word: In
Color: Green
Bible Verse: Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.

Number: 23
Color: Blue
Sight Word: Go
Bible Verse: Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.

Abby loves these easy readers.  She has learned most of the words through You Can Read, which we will continue to review Units 1-6 until January.

Since Abby has taken an interest in workbooks in the recent weeks, we mainly work through those just because that's what she wants to do.  Currently, I make her packets filled with a variety of resources that I will list below and encourage her to work independently on certain pages.

We have been using:

Fun to Trace
Fun to Cut
Fun to Color
Crayola: Connecting the Dots
A variety of Preschool Review books

She loves cutting and this particular activity came from Fun to Cut.  I couldn't find a link on Amazon (The actual book we use, my mother in law bought through the school she works for), but I've seen similar at Target. I find it to be a little more challenging for her and it also lets her practice pasting.

Abby has asked to count to 100.  First, we started skip counting by 10's.  Once, she figured out the pattern she can get to 100 with help here and there.  It's something we continue to work on, but it's exciting when she chooses what she wants to learn.

Speaking of taking the lead of a child, she's also started to pick up on sound blending and short and long vowels sounds.  She finds it "tricky" when vowels make different sounds. :-)  While, I hadn't planned on getting to that just yet, it is something that I will have to start with her soon.

I used to have Abby do quiet reading for about 15 minutes.  And while quiet and Abby are words that can never be synonymous with one another, I've found something better....Reading time with Summer.  It's the perfect combination for them both.

As for little Summer...she's discovered her toes! :-)

And, she started rolling over from her back to her tummy.
