Abby is 4 years old and Summer is 2.5 months old.

Preschool Corner

Since we took last week off and my plan is to be done with our current preschool program at the end of November, we doubled up our RRSP work this week focusing on letters R and J.

Number: 19
Color: Brown
Sight Word: it
Bible Verse: Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Number: 20
Color: Black
Sight Word: said
Bible Verse: Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth and the life.

I just recently began adding PowerPoint presentations to our daily routine by incorporating our weekly letter, number, color, etc., while also including shapes and random other activities such as rhyming, ordinal numbers and sight words, etc.  She enjoys this approach and feels like a big girl being in charge of the computer and it helps reinforce certain ideas by putting a fun spin on learning.

While I was unable to capture our sight word review activities this week, we have been reviewing the 31 words Abby has learned over the past few months.  Those words include You Can Read: Units 1-6 and also her Raising Rock Stars weekly sight words.  After several reviews, I have identified her consistent problem words..a total of 7 which isn't bad, but in the next few weeks I want to reinforce those words and help build her confidence before we move any further.  She really has done such a great job with this.

I pulled out our Autumn themed printables from last year for her to review and she flew very quickly through them. So, we ended up using many of our workbook activities to supplement, which was a nice change of pace.

We used several activities from this Fall Fun Preschool Pack.

Sorting...

 Beginning Sounds...

Pattern making...

Counting and number identification...

This was an activity she was too little for last year, it's amazing how much difference a year makes!

She went and grabbed our Halloween printables and wanted to do those activities too..so that's what we did.

She loves puzzles and put this particular one together at least 3 times.

Dot Painting Maze practicing numbers 1-15...

We worked on positional words with this cute activity.

She always loves pouring and transferring.

Summer patiently looks on while Abby and I are working together...most days.

She's growing up so fast and I have yet to capture a true Summer smile..I only get bits and pieces.

She's become a little talker and her and Abby can carry on quite the conversation.

We got out the little bouncer for her to play in.  She scrutinized it for a few minutes, but then had a fun time bouncing and talking to the animals.

Preschool Corner
Abby is 4 years old and Summer is 2.5 months old.
Somehow within the past week and a half, I managed to misplace my camera which resulted in my delayed postings of what my girls have been up to and obviously there are very few pictures.
Our weekly preschool curriculum base is centered around a book by Susan Hunt called My ABC Bible Verses and we finally own the book, thanks to my Dad!  I really love being able to read it daily to Abby and it allows her to comprehend the verse in a more detailed realistic context versus a basic understanding that I was providing her.
We took last week off because we needed a much needed break to just play and enjoy the Fall weather, but I plan to resume this coming week!
Color: Brown
Number: 18
Sight Word: they
Bible Verse: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called Sons of God.
She colored her Bible verse.

Tracing...

We revisited this Ballerina Preschool Pack and Abby was able to complete many of the pages she was too little for just a year ago.  Here she is completing the alphabet page..some letters are given, others are dashed for her to trace and some boxes were blank for her to fill in all by herself.  She did fantastic!

These foam blocks are awesome!  She built a house for Moose.

Summer is becoming more interested in toys now.  She's beginning to bat at the hanging toys on her playmat.

Summer is also taking after her sister in the fact she LOVES to talk ALOT and can't sit still. :-)

Abby has really picked up on rhyming and now is doing it non-stop!  :-)

And, since we finally had the camera back..Abby requested a few pictures with Summer.

This week was one of those weeks where learning wasn't caught on camera, but just happened anywhere and everywhere.

Color: pink
Number: 17
Sight Word: to
Bible Verse:  Praise the Lord!  For it is good to sing praises to our God.
Abby has always been fond of tracing and has taken extreme interest in just writing her own letters each week.  We used this printable.

Dot Painting...

Coloring...which actually started out fairly neat but then...the castle looked like it had experienced an explosion. :-)

Abby has such a vivid imagination which includes her outside toys as friends. :-)

She loves our Chrysanthemums.

Modeling some of her new clothes...
