We have been working daily on number identification and she likes using these extra large flashcards.  We vary the activities, but once she confidently identifies all 20 without much thought, we can continue on to the next set.

Unit: 3

This was our last week on this unit.  We mainly focus on the new words for a few days and then add them to the previous words she's learned.  That way she is constantly reviewing and seeing more and more words.

Is it obvious yet that she loves writing on the dry erase board??? :-)

Daddy has been thinking up some fun surprise trips here lately.  This week, he wanted to take Abby to Chuck E. Cheese's.  I'm not sure who had more fun..him or Abby but needless to say Abby got to climb and explore and he got to play basketball.  I guess a win win for everyone!

Abby is currently 3 1/2 years old.    Preschool Corner

This week was for the birds!  Abby has been asking to learn about birds for a while now and she seemed to enjoy the information and activities.  I hope in the near future we can expand on the topic and do some birdwatching, which I always enjoyed as a summer hobby and I think she will enjoy too!

Sight Word: Me
Number: 8
Color: Brown
Bible Verse: John 6:47
Verily, Verily, I say to you he that believeth on me, hath everlasting life.

Tracing her verse with Letter Vv...

Reading her easy reader...

ABC's, 123's, Shapes, Colors and Theme Printables

We used the Bird printables from Homeschool Creations.

Counting and number recognition...

She loves mazes!

Beginning sounds...

I thought we could try this out--Greater than, less than, equal to..she didn't get it completely, but thought it was fun for the alligator mouth to eat the big number.

Used this printable for tracing and coloring...

She was having a blast doing review on the dry erase board.  I had numbers 1-20 randomly on the board and she had to identify the number correctly before she could erase.

Quiet reading time...

Unit: Three

We've been using the pages from the unit found here and also doing some sentence work on the board.  The longer the sentence I can make with all the words she's learned so far, the more excited she gets.

She also used these Color By Number sight word sheets.

Daddy surprised Abby with a trip to a BIG playground.  She had a blast!

She painted a wooden birdhouse with cottonballs (that's all I could find!) to hang with another she received as a gift for Easter. :-)

So proud of the paint all over her fingers...

Then, we made bird treats to hang..

Preschool Corner- RRSP: Letter X, YCR: Unit 3 and Pirate/Peter Pan Theme

Sunday, June 03, 2012

Preschool CornerAbby is currently 3 1/2 years old.

I love the fact the Abby is reaching an age where she makes her opinion so clear...I say that and then I think back that she's been doing that most of her life..but I was stuck for letter "x" and what we could do. I asked her what she thought and she responded with, "X marks the spot, Aye Aye Matey."  Pirates it is, then!

Sight Word: Little
Number: 7
Color: Pink
Bible Verse: Matthew 18:3

This weeks Bible Verse, "....Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven" was a little difficult to memorize, but with help she does pretty well now.

She cut the verse and had to tape it in order by looking at the words.

Color by number sight word of the week...

ABC's, 123's, Shapes, Colors and Theme Printables

Practice counting and tracing the number of the week and following directions...

We also read and watched Peter Pan.  I had her dictate the story to me, then she practiced her name on Peter Pan themed resources from Homeschool Creations.

From the same Peter Pan pack, we began learning about time with on the hour digital and analog matching cards.

We also used these pirate themed resources from Over the Big Moon, to practice beginning sounds.

Dalmation Dog assisted in helping Abby count and identify numbers.

More scissor practice...she is improving SO MUCH!

You Can Read

I introduced Abby to Unit 3 of the You Can Read program.  She picked them up very quickly and you can obviously tell she enjoys learning new words, which is the point.

She chose her words in the order she wanted to read them to complete the pre-writing maze.

Her favorite, tracing..

We went on a Pirate Treasure Hunt.  I pinned this cute guide on my Pirate Theme board on Pinterest.

She was getting frustrated..haha..I was taking too long. :-)

She used her foam blocks to build Dalmation Dog and Moose a house.  Daddy helped get them dressed in bandanas so they could be pirates for awhile.

And, she searched for hidden treasures in the sand and dirt on a chilly first day of June.

Taking a break from all the hard work...
