Tot School - Letter G

Abby is 38 months old.

Tot School

I have to admit, I was slacking ALOT this week as far as preparation goes.  Abby did not like it at ALL!  We did mostly reading, some flashcards and expanded on Moses and the Ten Commandments.  The lack of pictures resulted from my camera going MIA, but it has been recovered and next week should be interesting.

It's no secret that my little girl loves giraffes.  I knew she would love being able to relate a letter to her favorite animal.  I made a tracing sheet for her and she found her favorite friends to help her trace, including Gia the Giraffe.

She had fun working her shape/color puzzle and alphabet puzzles.

We used her lacing beads to make patterns, count, and a few cubes have numbers she put those in order.

We also worked on flashcards.  She has always loved animals and has always amazed me with her memory of even the strangest of animals, but I broke out her Brainy Baby set to see how she would do and she got all but Ferret, Hedgehog and some other odd one.  We also worked on a set her Nana had given her which included Smaller/Bigger, Left/Right, Counting and Number Identification.  She nailed them pretty good and it's really cool to see her put on the spot and how well she responds.  I have found that different number fonts make the numbers 1, 7, 6 and 9 hard to distinguish between due to the similarities.

Abby also enjoyed an Autumn sensory bin I threw together, however, all the sensory bins I put together never actually stay in the bin. But, her animals played in the leaves all afternoon and with the different leaf sizes, she was able to put them from largest to smallest and visa versa, as well as, using the container to fill and pour.

Abby is 38 months old.

Tot School

Since moving to the country and in the process of clearing land for our house, we have quite a bit of bonfires going throughout the year.  With last week being recognized as Fire Safety Week, I thought it would be beneficial to introduce Abby to the dangers of fire and to also make her more aware when we are outside.

Last week my little firefighter worked on patterns.

Loves her foam alphabet puzzle..

Learned new vocabulary and used her toys to match..

She worked on matching the uppercase letters with the lowercase letters.

Worked on counting and number identification..

She LOVES spelling her name!

We also continued learning about Moses and focused on the Red Sea.  The Prince of Egypt has become one of her favorite movies.

Used more Firefighter theme printables to shadow match..

More patterns..

Learned how to Stop, Drop and Roll.

And, had lots of fun running in our freshly tilled future "yard."

Tot School - Review Week (Aa-Ee)

Abby is 37.5 months old.

Tot School

This week, we took the opportunity to review the letters, themes and Bible stories covered over the last 5 weeks.  It is a privilege being able to see first hand the progress Abby has made and I am very proud of her!

I focused on reviewing those activities she found challenging, but also those she enjoyed and did with ease.  She was able to complete some new items, as well, that we were unable to get to previously.

Although we did quite a bit this week, I only captured a few things on camera.

She revisited her apple coloring sheet.

And shapes...

Worked on lacing...

Counting with the Worms in Apples game..

She wanted to use her dry erase board ALOT this week.  I gave her this printable and she got right to business.

She loves finding the pictures that are different!

She had alot of fun finding the letters I called out.

Spent a minute or two coloring...

Placing numbers in order from 1-10..

And, playing in the dirt almost every day this week!!!

Tot School - Exploration Theme and Letter E

Abby is 37.5 months old.

Tot School

This week, we took Dora the Explorer to a different level...Abby the Explorer!  We were outside alot this week and it was very enjoyable, but still did some activites indoors.

She played with her stacking blocks, matching colors, shapes and also sorting from largest to smallest.

Used her Mega Blocks to sort by color and build tall towers...

She loves building airplanes and was flying it everywhere! :-)

We worked on patterns.

And, we used the blocks to work on positional terms, she is placing the block ON the table.

She dot painted the elephant printable, then decided she wanted me to cut it out so she could glue it.

Practiced cutting with scissors, which is the best part of her day!

Abby worked on her numbers, by using this printable to count and circle the correct number of elephants.  She has improved SO MUCH with her number recognition.

We read ALOT this week!  She would bring me mounds of books and we would spend long periods of time just reading, sometimes the same book over and over.  She especially enjoyed Jonah and the Whale and our Bible story this week, Baby Moses.  We visited the library and borrowed The Prince of Egypt, which she loved.  At one point, she ran out of her room and yelled, "Let my people go." Haha!

She played in her sand table ALOT this week, helped in the yard preparing for our fall display and saw a few animal friends.  You can read more about that on this post.

We also went on a little hike through the woods.  I created a scavenger hunt sheet and an explorer map to guide her.  She got a kick out of it and to my surprise, we actually did find everything on the list...but we would only let her collect certain things.

She loved being in charge of the map, trying to figure out where to go.

Searching for the hill...

Animal tracks...

Finding treasures...

Finally, made it to the lake..

On the way back home, she attempted to skip rocks in the creek...but it ended up being how big of a splash the rock could make.

She was amazed with the "diamond" tracks.

My little explorer! :-)
