Tot School - Transportation Theme and Letter C

Sunday, September 18, 2011

Abby is 37 months old.

Tot School

This week I tried to be a little carefree and lighthearted with the daily activities I had planned.  I wasn't as organized as I would have liked to have been, but Abby seemed to like the fun approach and showed great enthusiasm and improvement.

The letter of the week was C for Car and that tied perfectly in with the Cars Preschool Pack from 1+1+1=1 and Transportation Preschool Pack from Homeschool Creations.  She really liked the theme this week!

She sequenced the school buses.

Matched and named the shapes and colors.

Had a blast counting and circling the numbers of each form of transportation, as well as, tracing.

She loved using the tweezers to pick up the pom poms and place them in the ice cube trays.

She loved piecing the puzzles together and she worked on making patterns.

The absolute FAVORITE activities this week were the alphabet puzzle and the sensory bin filled with lentils!  She would play for hours making soup and all sorts of stuff.

But then, little girl had a day where she didn't feel well.  So we took the day off and we just played all day and watched Thomas the Tank Engine.

The next day she was begging to do school and felt much better! But first, we took a little field trip to Grandma's with Daddy.

We gathered some corn stalks for the fall display in the coming week.

And walked down to the lake.

Back at home, she played on the swingset and the slide.

Then, she did some birdwatching with her "oculars."

Then, she spent a few minutes playing with some vehicles we learned about this week.

To end the week, we took her on a trip to Cincinnati to ride on Thomas the Tank Engine.

She did really well on her first train ride.  We rode in vintage 1930's cars which was a nice piece of history to experience.

Then, she played in a maze and was pretty good at maneuvering her way through.

When we left, she just had to have the Thomas balloon that was about as big as she was.

We ended the day with a trip to the zoo since we also studied Noah's Ark this week.  It tied in perfectly.  These are some of her favorite animals she saw.  She really enjoyed watching the gorillas irritating each other and the baby giraffe and we were lucky enough to pet a Wallaby which was really neat!

Alligator Encounter!
